Artisan Damson and Sloe Vinegar

Producer: Artisan Vinegar Company Origin: Cornwall, United Kingdom

This vinegar is made from 100% whole damsons and sloes (wild, small, dark sour plums) from Cornwall. Artisan Vinegar Company takes the raw fruit, ferments it into a fruit wine, and then transforms that fruit wine into vinegar using the same slow, natural process which they use to make their award-winning Artisan Malt Vinegar. Every drop is barrel-matured. Then it is drawn straight from the barrel – live, unfiltered, unpasteurized, unadulterated. They use absolutely no concentrates, extracts, sulfites, flavorings, colorings, or preservatives. Just tart fruity goodness! This vinegar contains “the mother.”

Shelf Talkers

– Made from two rare British hedgerow fruits — damsons (wild plums from the Prunus family) and sloes (the berry behind classic sloe gin)
– Damsons take their name from Damascus, Syria — a fruit brought to England by the Romans
– Sloes are so intensely astringent raw that they’re almost never eaten — only transformed
– Barrel-matured, unpasteurized, and alive with natural culture
– A deeply complex, British-terroir vinegar nearly impossible to find in the US
