CastelaS Noir d’Olive Oil Washed Martini

CastelaS Noir d’Olive Oil Washed Martini
This twist on a classic incorporates one of the newest trends in cocktails: finishing stirred drinks with a few drops of aromatic olive oil! The Noir d’Olive virgin olive oil from CastelaS makes the perfect addition to a crisp martini because it is so reminiscent of fresh black olives. Simply drop the oil from a dropper on top of your martini, and you have a decorative and fragrant drink for all to enjoy! Try it out yourself!

INGREDIENTS (makes one martini)

  • 2 oz. gin or vodka of your choice
  • 1/2 oz. dry vermouth of your choice
  • CastelaS Noir d’Olive Oil
  • olive juice (optional)
  • cocktail dropper
  • jigger
  • stirring glass
  • stirring spoon
  • strainer
  • martini glass or coupe cocktail glass
  • ice

PREPARATION

Lay out your bar tools so everything is handy. Using your jigger, measure 2 oz. of vodka or gin into your stirring glass. Then measure 1/2 oz. of dry vermouth into your stirring glass. For a dirty martini, add in a few dashes of olive juice (optional). Next, fill your stirring glass with one scoop of ice and stir for 30 seconds until the glass is quite cold to the touch. Take the spoon out and strain your martini into a chilled serving glass. (For a complete dirty martini, add olives of your choice to the bottom of the serving glass before straining!)

Take the olive oil into the dropper and sprinkle drops on top of the martini (like raindrops on a lake). Sometimes they will congeal, but if you serve it fast enough, it is a beautiful display of the olive oil.
